Something I’ve recently realized is that my small, rural town I live in is actually slightly larger than Boston during the revolution. It really put into perspective how large and unwieldy the Government has gotten.

Yes.

Also of note is the original numbers of people to Representative in the House on the Federal level. They continued to bloat the numbers to make it easy to get things done at the Fed level, but the cost of that is that people aren't actually represented, they're drowned out. In a sense, they still would be because their one person would be a small vote in many, but they'd possibly have ONE on their side in the DC Polis they could hold accountable.

The Reapportionment Act of 1929 was one of our bigger mistakes. Washington wanted one Representative for every 30,000 people, and we really should have never gone over 50,000. It makes it impossible for an average citizen to even get to know their single rep, let alone have power in government. More reps would also make Gerrymandering much, much harder and increase the potential for third parties

Yes.

But, the bloat will continue until the beast explodes. I'm fairly certain about that. Everyone's committed to the money and power, or controlled kayfabe, at this point in the game.
