Alarmed at his advance, Aidan, King of those Scots who lived in Britain, came against him with a large and strong army, but was defeated by Ethelfrid’s smaller forces and put to flight, losing almost his entire army at a famous place known as Degastan, that is, Degsa’s Stone. In this battle, Ethelfrid’s brother Theobald and all his men were killed, Ethelfrid brought this campaign to a close in the year of our Lord 603, the eleventh of his reign, which lasted twenthy-four years. It was also the first year of the reign of Phocas, who then occupied the throne of the Roman Empire. From that day until the present, no king of the Scots has dared to invade Britain to make war on the English.

A short break on usury - because I was listening to
’s podcast with , their one When East Meets West. It’s very good, and if I don’t write this now, I will forget or not get my thoughts down correctly. You see, they mentioned and discussed how Europe was basically a peninsula, with a bunch of backwater tribes until the Roman Empire came along and tamed them all.
Which is completely correct.
We discussed this here briefly in Oh Ye Gods, and the founding mythologies of some of these nations. That most of them tied themselves back to the Greeks.
The reasoning behind this was precisely to give themselves a gravitas and authority to rule in the eyes of their subjects. That, no matter what petty squabbling happened between nobles and authority figures, all would be well.
Because, you see, Deus Vult.
God wills it.
He did with the pagans.
And, when Catholicism guided the Roman Empire, then the Holy Roman Empire, then the individual Monarchies (which each tried their hardest to trace their lineage back to the one of those two);
Deus Vult.
But, when you have a fractured Christendom, then the Enlightenment…
How fast do we all go back to tribes?
Haiti got there real fast.
But, honestly, Ireland, the Emerald Isle with a Catholic constitution…
How far gone is she?
Is she salvageable?
England? Where, in 600, the Scots were driven out completely, will the Scots remain Scottish? Will the English remain English?
And here, in America? Where we have no nation, because we’re an empire, and have been successfully broken up and unable to develop communities, blood-ties, myths, etc.
We’re a bunch of transplants, that bought the melting pot, free trade, capitalist, propaganda. We have no roots any more. They have withered and are almost gone.
What will become of us?
Will we remember our roots and return to them before they die?
They are what make us old!
What give us strength and vigor of a man and not a young, dumb stripling!
Without them we wander, lost in the dark wilderness.
To them we must return with joy, trusting our forefathers.
Because there’s not much separating a domestic dog,
From a feral dog,
From a wolf.
Ironically, the feral dog’s lack of fear of man makes him more dangerous…
In the end.
Born in the U.S., two years ago we moved back to my husband's ancestral country; Italy. His grandparents left Sicily for a dream of a better life. They were better off financially but lost so much more than they gained. We love this country, especially the people. They know who they are and want to stay that way. Italians are comfortable in their own skin. Being born American, we had no concept of the strength of the love Europeans have to their land; their long memories and bond to dirt that has centuries of blood spilled on it; their love of their family history and their stories and culture and shared history; the love of the things that make them a unique and special people. They wish to remain who they are and to carry forward those loves and that history and to teach them to their children. America has been destroying her roots, yanking them out instead of proudly embracing them, flaws and all - teaching her children to hate her - leaving Americans with love of country, no identity and no common ground. Europeans are willing to protest and fight to keep their culture, way of life and heritage. Americans have no such compulsion; they are schizophrenic and destroying the only thing which could have given them a shared and unified identity. America is doomed and there is no turning back. RIP USA.
Read my recent essay on ancestral reverence. The chain has not been broken - it exists within our very souls and DNA. Paganism was never beaten - it lay deep withing our very souls. Neither has the polis completely disappeared - it lays dormant within us, waiting for action.
Ever since walking from Christianity, I have found kindred who work everyday to build community and blood ties. This is available to all of us, but we have to be willing to take action.
