Then what sorts of frightening conditions concern the brave person? Surely the most frightening; for no one stands firmer against terrifying conditions. Now death is most frightening of all, since it is a boundary, and when someone is dead nothing beyond it seems either good or bad for him any more. Still, not even death in all conditions, e.g. on the sea or in sickness, seems to be the brave person’s concern.
- Aristotle Nicomachean Ethics Book III Chapter 6
I had the utmost pleasure and honor of being on the 14th Episode of When East Meets West with the good gentlemen
and .We had a romping good time discussing a host of issues. The crazy things that have happened the last week. The delicate state that the West find’s itself in with extended supply lines. New Substack - Barbarian’s Corner
I’ve also started writing Barbarian’s Corner. This substack will stay strictly themed to the Polis; which is my love and the work of my life. As can be seen, it is both stylized and themed, and will stay that way.
However, sometimes I find myself wanting to write on other topics, and outside of that style. Rather than clutter up people’s email or substack feeds, I made the decision to split the two. I did not transfer people over to the other automatically, but waited till I had a few posts up to let people see what it might be like - which is random topics that interest me and I think merit a post.
Some of them are topics and musings I think are supportive of the content here, but that I can’t find sources to back it in ancient writings or texts. Some of it will be military. Some of it will just be random thoughts on economy or politics. One was a response to the Euthanasia junk going around, so it really is a catch all place, that won’t get pushed here again.
